The global crisis as it is manifesting itself also in the Russian-Ukrainian War or the Climate Change is leaving its traces also on the program structures @ Alphabet Art Centre.
While the war is overwhelming everything, i.e each program component can be understood as a part of the solidarity program while the war is actively running (open end), the complementary programs are standing under the motto of “Anthropocene” – promotimg the internal artfilm collections @ The Wake-Up Memorial, for instance, and “Hall of Fame”, featuring internally and externally international artists who are successfull due to their particular individual artistic language.

Peace Letters to Ukraine

Violence and war as destructve matter are standing against culture, art and creativity. The Russian-Ukraine War is barbarian und destructive, an incredible act of agression erasing solidarity and humanity.
But not only the Ukrainians and their friends and supporters are standing up against the violation of international law and the humanitarian desaster, but all civilized people, cultural workers and artists.
This audio-visual art project including more than 250 Ukrainian and international artists started on 1 March 2022 – representing one way how art can serve as a tool to show and confirm solidarity with the Ukrainian people, and defend freedom – the freedom of the word, the freedom of expression, the freedom of movement – that kind of freedom which is representing the fertile soil for the arts – freedom through intercontinental networking.

TAM Darkroom – Cinema T
– the screening space at Torrance Art Museum Los Angeles has a particular relevance in the context of ALPHABET.
In 2020, the 4th collaboration between Wilfried Agricola de Cologne and Torrance Art Museum was taking place. It started 2014, and was continued in 2016 and 2018. This collaboration was a particular curatorial challenge because as a curator, Wilfried Agricola de Cologne created each time exclusive screening programs, which hadn’t been presented in the constellation of filmic works ever before. In 2014, he was presenting 4 programs, in 2016, 5 programs, in 2018 18 programs, and in 2020 another 7 programs, in total 34 programs, at no other place Wilfried was presenting more videoart programs. So, it is more than justified to dedicate an extra virtual darkroom for the videoart programs Wilfried Agricola de Cologne was presenting at TAM – Torrance Art Museum.
At the same time, the artists included in these programs are honoured in a particular way.
ALPHABET is installing CINEMA T exclusively for screening programs shown previously at Torrance Art Museum LA since 2014.
